The committee approved a $550,000 contract increase with the Minnesota State Patrol for law enforcement services to assist the Minneapolis Police Department. The contract increase was approved by a vote of 3-2.

Council Member Robin Wonsley expressed concerns that the Minnesota State Patrol was not bound by the same legal settlements as the Minneapolis Police Department, and pointed out the killing of Ricky Cobb by the State Patrol in a traffic stop.
