From the City of Akron’s website: “One of the greenest Wards in the City, Ward 8 spans most of Northwest Akron with portions of the Merriman Valley and Wallhaven. Parks and other outdoor spaces galore with spots like Sand Run Metro Park, Portage Country Club, and Hardesty Park. It also houses the nationally-renowned Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens and portions of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. There’s more to Ward 8 than just the great outdoors! Some of the City’s great local restaurants and businesses reside here as well. Running and fitness enthusiasts can check out Second Sole for shoe experts and world-class shoes and equipment. Shop smart at Happy Tails Thrift Shop where you can support the Summit County Humane society while giving a new life to secondhand furniture, décor, and more. Ward 8 also has a wealth of eateries ranging from laid-back bites at Pub Bricco in the Valley to fine dining options like Ken Stewart’s Grille or Larry’s Main Entrance in Wallhaven.”
