In an 11-minute meeting, the commission approved a state grant in the amount of $156,000 for Operation Stonegarden, a Department of Homeland Security program to enhance local, tribal, state and federal cooperation in securing the U.S.-Canadian border.
I will be live reporting the Wayne County Commission’s Committee on Public Safety, Judiciary, and Homeland Security today at 11 am for #DetroitDocumenters
09:17 AM Jun 11, 2025 CDT
The meeting was called to order and Melissa Daub, Cara Clemente and Allen Wilson were present. The minutes and agenda were approved
First is a motion to accept grant money from Operation Stone garden, which is a joint FEMA-DHS program to fund border police. They plan to use the money for overtime
I didn’t catch a vote on the matter, but they moved on to approval of a state grant for corrections and pretrial services
It seems they are voting on both those matters at once, and both were approved
