I love that the @ChiPubSchools board meetings provide ASL interpretation for all of their meetings! That should be the standard everywhere.
@ChiPubSchools Update - the Board has extended the deadline for Honorary Student Board Member applications until May 12th. The student will be part of the Student Voice Roundtable & receive a $1,000 scholarship.
Lots of praise & recognition to all the awesome teachers out there. The Board celebrates the accomplishments of the newly National Board Certified Teachers (NBCTs). @CTULocal1 @ChiPubSchools Chicago has one of the highest numbers of NBCTs in any district in the nation.
The past 30 mins have been speakers from the union & the public, with 2-5 min time slots.
The Board will be taking a 30 minute recess. Which means I can stretch my legs & take a break too! Brb
The April Progress Monitoring Presentation: Exceptional and Diverse Talent Targeted Priority is given & it highlights a 5-tier approach called "Teach Chicago Strategy," which is meant to tackle systemic talent challenges. @ChiPubSchools
After approving the public agenda items the board moved onto the resolutions & reports. The resolutions that needed members to vote, were all approved.
I didn't expect the meeting to run over an hour past the original end time...I'm starting to get really hungry.
Perfect timing - the board just called for Closed Session at 8:13pm. I'll make food while I wait!
