đĽ The Board of Control also sometimes approves the sale of city-owned land, but I donât think weâll see that sort of thing at todayâs meeting.

đ You can find the agenda for this afternoonâs meeting on the @cledocumenters site here: https://cleveland.documenters.org/documents/agenda-87196/
đ Or you can enjoy it right here, in 4 screenshots https://t.co/prq2H0SzLF

đ The meeting begins at 3 pm!
đ And you can watch it LIVE on The Board of Controlâs YouTube channel here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC4-grlgMPJy50hXISJ01lkQ

The livestream is up & is being called to order. Hereâs a direct link to the livestream of todayâs @CityofCleveland Board of Control Meeting:

The meeting is starting with Director of Public Utilities Keane. Keane is reading through the 4 Public Utilities items on the agenda.
All 4 were approved without comments or questions https://t.co/jiFk3C3XJ1

Now weâre hearing from Commissioner of Information Technology Kimberly Roy Wilson about the first two Finance items: https://t.co/o5qer6niXy

Someone else, who wasnât named, is now talking about the 3rd Finance item - a contract w/ @UnitedWayCLE to provide after-hours service for the 311 call center.
8 vendors applied. 1 was disqualified.
Contract is for ~$100k for 1 year, w/ two renewals https://t.co/GA7HtZnsA9

Director Dennis Kramer from Port Control talking about contract for flooring at the airport.
Says itâs the 3rd time this contract has been bid. First two times the contractors didnât meet âOEO goalsâ (which Iâm googling/guessing means âOffice of Equal Opportunity goalsâ) https://t.co/wjqEtoE1FO

@MayorBibb asked a clarifying question about which floors are covered by this contract. It fixes all floors at the airport INCLUDING the bathrooms.
Approved!

Next is Public Safety Director Karrie Howard talking about purchases of boots for @ClevelandFire
Theyâre rejecting the second item for now so they can re-do the bids for particle hoods - so this BOOTS ONLY item is approved đ˘đ˘ https://t.co/b32d7IQGBJ

That was it for our agenda, BUT thereâs a âwalk onâ item from Port Control!
this is related to Ord. 763-2022 re: healthcare benefits to City of Cleveland employees
Unclear who is speaking, they are not identified

Here are the amounts ânot to exceedâ for the contracts:
Anthem Blue Cross: $45 million
Medical Mutual: $80 million
Delta Dental: $5 million
EyeMed: $600,000
Symetra Life Insurance: $300k
Metropolitan Life Insurance for benefits at no cost to the City

A question about ânot to exceedâ
2020 health care costs were ~$100 million. With prescription costs ~$110 million.
These contracts are well in excess of those actuals, so it sounds like theyâre overbudgeting to provide a cushion if needed.

Iâll chip in with this fact: my inhaler doubled in price this year, so thereâs that đĄ

And thatâs it! The meeting adjourned after about 13 minutes.
It took me a lot longer to tweet it because it I used the magic of rewind a lot.
The audio for some of the speakers on this stream plain olâ stunk. I tried to get what I could & I hope I got it right đź https://t.co/Wgym4aJSS7

I think itâs fascinating that the last item covered today was a âwalk onâ (not on the published agenda) and approved contracts of up to ~$130 million đ°đ°đ°

This concludes my coverage of todayâs @CityofCleveland Board of Control Meeting. Thank you for reading along with me!
