Highland Park will pay $1 million to DWSD before June 9, 2023 for unpaid water bills.

  1. Councilmember called him and threatened a lawsuit over a parade he was throwing. He said Ash-Shafii took down the barricades, the Police Chief confirmed that and said he told him it was unlawful and Ash-Shafii left.

Ash-Shafii asked who paid for police during the parade. Police Chief said most present are volunteer auxiliary.

Mayor McDonald said the charter overrules the ordinance. The Mayor last year gave permission for a parade and she had the same purview to give permission.

Martin said thank you for hosting the parade and she hopes it is bigger next year with more sponsors and more people for longer than two hours.

She also gives acknowledgement to the slow roll on the 3rd. These will be hosted once a month.

Manica said thanks for the parade as well. She also gave thanks for a clean up that happened over the weekend. She is sharing some info but it is all over the place. A flyer will be in the water bills for support days from Wayne Metro. Bucket Drumming will be 26-29 at Field House

President Thomas said call non emergency for noise ordinances, talk to kids about safe bike riding and be cautious when driving, and encourages use of non chemical weed killers. “Step back from your conflicts”. Be careful with fireworks.

Pursuant to the Highland Park Charter, Chapters 5 and 6, the City Council of Highland Park is comprised of 5 members; 2 at-large and one from each council district. The council exercises all of the legislative powers of the city, except as otherwise stated by law, and provides for the public’s peace and health, and for the safety of persons and property.

The council meets in regular session in the established Council Chamber on the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month.
