Community members are reporting on a shooting that took place in the community on Detroit’s Southwest side and a host of other issue facing that area. This particular person feels unheard and unappreciated according to his statements.
Another community member claims that the city of Detroit is being robbed based on the contracts being awarded to entities that operate outside the city’s boundaries. Claims city bonds were issued without the proper notice to the public.
Another community member is expressing frustration over a building she claims to own that received damaged because of demolition work done by the City.
Another community member who goes by the name Black Jesus outright accused Council President Mary Sheffield of lying about procedural matters regarding City bonds. Also showed support for previous community member dealing with damage to her building.
Community member calls on Mary Sheffield to step down based on allegations of expensive cars and churches funneling Marijuana money. Says the council as whole is not serving the people.

More community members are showing support for DDOT receiving more funding for their drivers.

Community member from North End says that North End Landing Development needs to stop. Says developer has not properly engaged the community.

Allowances for marijuana business are being discussed. The proposed adjustment will increase the number of parcels that will become available to marijuana businesses.
Eastern Market district is being discussed for possible expansion to accommodate the proposed adjustments to Detroits marijuana policy.
Councilman Benson asked the CPC chairman Lauren Hood if there are any guardrails against over saturation of marijuana facilities in his district. Public hearing on the marijuana facilities zoning requirements will be Thursday June 29th.
Curfew in place for minors at the Fireworks on June 26th. No one under 18 years old without accompaniment by an adult will be allowed Downtown after 8pm.
Sideways improvement to nearly 150 requested areas will be done in residential neighborhoods by the end of 2023 according to Ron Brundage. Over 117 Block clubs reached out to the city according to Mr. Brundage.
Councilman Young II says he’d like to know the status of the safety of members of the LGBT+ community from DPD based on the violence against the Trans members of the community in the City that is ongoing.
Council wishes Council President Sheffield a Happy Birthday during member reports on a lighter note.

Detroit City Council
The Detroit City Council is the legislative body of Detroit, Michigan, United States. The Council is responsible for the creation of local laws—called ordinances. Additionally they pass resolutions, motions, and the proposed city budget. The full-time council is required to meet every business day for at least 10 months of the year, with at least eight of these meetings occurring at a location besides city hall. The council may convene for special meetings at the call of the mayor or at least four members of council. Areas of responsibility for the Budget, Finance and Audit Committee include, Budget, Finance and the Auditor General.
City Council members are elected on the same cycle as the Mayor and will be elected in 2021. Seven members represent the seven council districts, while two members are elected at-large.
